Mendip Lavender is a small independent essential oil producer. The first incarnation was started in 1999 as a hobby, but in 2010 the Field and lavender were sold to Jenny & Jon Turner who were looking for a business they could develop.
When we took over we had four varieties of Lavender; three Lavandula angustifolia, Twickel Purple, Hidcote & Folgate and one Lavandula × intermedia; Grosso. All grown to produce essential oil. Today (2024) we only grow three having stopped producing Folgate. We did grow No9 for a few years and hope to reintroduce it soon.
The essential oil is produced by the traditional method of Steam Distillation and is then left to mature for a minimum of 6 months before it is used in our products.
